The Social Network (David Fincher, 2010)
Nothing much except a note to future self.
I've watched this film a dozen times and every time I am taken by a new aspect of the film making prowess on display here. This time I found myself laughing so hard at the whip-smart dialogue. Neither as dry or scathing as Iannucci nor is it a blend of loud and cool as in Tarantino. Fincher's sense of humour is its own thing. Dry but not with the intent to cut. Self aware but not an annoying wink at the audience. An inside joke between Fincher and himself. A cute smugness perhaps like that of a teenage goth rolling her eyes at the world while chewing gum: sated.
Sense the same sense of humour in The Killer and the first half of Gone Girl. Excited to watch what he does with Cliff Booth.
