Death Becomes Her (Robert Zemeckis, 1992)

Smiled throughout and let out a couple chuckles but that’s about it. A comic body horror with campy performances by Streep, Hawn and Willis and a knockout cameo from Isabelle Rosellini (I’ll be thinking about her for days, Uff her waist, legs and all that tease). Caricatures the Hollywood obsession with eternal youth but ends up playing the same beat again and again. The final third seems like a tacked on ‘moral of the story’ and a critique, if any, feels either accidental or lacks any bite. Zemeckis clearly not the man for this job. Perhaps I’m a bit too straight to enjoy this one at face value.
